New Legislation Affects All French Poker Players
ByIn early April, 2010 French Parliament passed a vote to legalize and regulate the online poker industry in France. This new legislation means that on the 1st of June, 2010 the Poker/Online Gaming industry will experience a significant shake up.
The bill means that the French Government will place a 2% tax on online poker and 7.5% on Sports Betting in an effort to ensure players are treated fairly as only licensed operators will be allowed to offer their products in France. This effectively means French players will only be allowed to play against French players.
Unfortunately, the PAW Network is not immune to industry changes and in the coming week we will expect to receive more information from PAW Operators as to where they stand on operating in France.
We have already been informed that BetFair will no longer be accepting French players and any affiliates currently promoting to French traffic are advised to cease immediately.
PAW would like to assure all affiliates that once we have the information on where our operators stand, this will be communicated to them hopefully with an alternate offer such as rev-share.
